Olivia Palermo thinks she likes blazers so much because they remind her of her mom.
The American fashion star used to love delving into her mother's closet when she was little. She's adamant days spent dressing like her parent have influenced her style as a young woman.
"I used to play dress-up in my mother's closet. I think that's why I wear blazers so much , as she had a huge collection. My favourites are by Armani and Joseph - for events, I'll attach Art Deco clips to the lapels," she told the latest edition of UK InStyle magazine.
Olivia is known for her preppy and chic style. She knows people think she dresses like that all the time, but thinks her real wardrobe would surprise them.
Sometimes she eschews high heels for flat shoes - although not every type.
"You'll never see me in Crocs of Birkenstocks," she said. "They don't look good on anyone and when people wear them with socks it's just horrendous.
"People imagine I'm constantly in heels, but I love my flats too. French sole pumps have a low, slim cut, which makes them really flattering on the leg. I have so many pairs in different colours, my shoe rack looks like a sweet shop."

Sise’s Nordsj?lland close on Copenhagen
Mikkelsen and Parkhurst gave the visitors the much needed win with the American also picking up his third yellow card of the season, which will force him to sit out their game next weekend.
At the time of kickoff, the Wild Tigers [Nordsj?lland] held a four-point lead over Horsens in the race for the league’s second Champions League qualification spot, putting the pressure of a crucial six-pointer on each of the two.
After a cagey opening, Nordsj?lland gave themselves the upper hand two minutes before the half-hour, as Michael Parkhurst played a give-and-go to perfection with Kasper Wellemberg Lorentzen, sending a cutting pass through the defense then running onto the flicked return before putting it away in emphatic fashion for the 1-0 lead.
While Horsens did their best to stay within striking distance, Nordsj?lland’s superiority finally showed through with 18 minutes left in regulation, as Tobias Pilegaard Mikkelsen ran onto a through-ball in the left side of the area and chipped his shot from a tight angle into the far side of goal.
With Copenhagen only managing a scoreless draw later in the day on their trip to Silkeborg at the Mascot Park, the Wild Tigers move to within three points of the leaders; albeit with a slightly lesser goal differential.
Sise and his Nordsj?lland will try to continue their unexpectedly strong campaign on Sunday when they welcome HB K?ge at the Farum Park.

Don't Make the Same Manolo Mistake Fern Mallis Did
Shopping mistakes happen to all of us, even those of us who virtually invented Fashion Week as we know it. In the latest installment of their retail regrets column Buyer's Remorse, Racked National gets Fern Mallis, the woman who first brought the shows under one big tent in Bryant Park, to confess her worst sample sale misstep. Explains Mallis:
At a Manolo Blahnik VIP shoe sale several years ago I bought a pair of gold sequin stillettos. I figured they'd be a great accent shoe for a LBD... I've never worn them, and think I should have left them for the drag queens that were shopping.
With this year's Manolo sale fast approaching, let's all heed this cautionary tale.
