The unprecedented warm weather in West Michigan has everything blooming well ahead of schedule – including tulips. Organizers of the annual Tulip Time Festival hope this as an opportunity to lengthen the annual celebration of tulips.
Tulip time organizers urge folks to come early for tulips. Although no one can predict the weather and its affect on sprouting tulips, it is estimated that the flowers will peak by mid-April.
Holland area attractions are opening early and some are offering special discounts. In addition, select hotels are offering deals during the month of April. Details are available by visiting and clicking on the Deals & Discounts button on their home page.
The Tulip Time Festival runs May 5-12. Opening weekend of the festival includes the Tulip Time Run, the opening of the Meijer Midway Carnival, an Art & Craft Fair, and festivities concluding with musical performances and fireworks.
During the week there will be three parades, and over 1,000 dancers dressed in authentic Dutch costumes and wooden shoes, high-kicking their way through traditional dances.
“The city plants mostly late blooming varieties of tulips,” explains Gwen Auwerda, Tulip Time Festival Executive Director. “We’re hoping these late bloomers live up to their name and last into the festival. But, either way, if those arriving in Holland for the Tulip Time Festival take advantage of all the great events, they will not be disappointed.” Don’t miss the chance to “Join the Dance” and be a part of the festival consistently named as one of North America’s Top 100 Events.

Copies of sneakers for Club Shoes
The 7400 pairs of counterfeit sneakers recently seized by the RCMP in Montreal and Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier, were exclusively for Club Shoes stores.
At least that has informed the Group Bianco Nero, with nearly a dozen stores under the banner Shoes Club in Quebec.
In the Quebec region, we find one of these shops at Place Fleur de Lys and another on the streets of the Marais. Two more are on the South Shore, one in Saint-Romuald and the other in Lévis. Other branches are located in Sept-Iles, Jonquière, Chicoutimi, Alma, Mascouche, Saint-Jérôme, Laval, Saint-Hyacinthe and Saint-Bruno.
On Tuesday, RCMP investigators knocked on the doors of the Group's head office Bianco Nero, on Edward Street, Assh, Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier. The Federal Police had then seized some 4,000 pairs of counterfeit sneakers from designer brands such as Adidas, Alive, DC Shoes, Circa and Nike. It's like a search, a few weeks earlier, who had led the federal police to this location.
Bianco Nero Group has denied reports that counterfeit sneakers could be found on the shelves of its 29 stores that operate under the banner Bianco Nero.
The head office of the Banner Club Shoes puts the blame on one of its 259 suppliers, this being located in China, with whom he carried on business since last September.
